There is definitely a different feel going from 4th to 5th. On my bike it is almost a need to be more deliberate and slightly more forceful. Actually force does not really describe it, but there certainly is a different feedback from the mechanicism that I don't feel in other gears.
No difference down shifting. I do find sometimes that I need to double clutch from Neutral to 1st.
I confess to sometime lossing track of which gear I'm in. I find myself playing counting games to keep myself aware of what gear I'm in. I proud of myself when I count down to 'N' and hit it.
I think there should be a LED display of gears on bikes now. I don't think I have even seen one, even on the big bikes.
